The Iconic American Brands Are No Longer American

Launched in September 1918, Forbes quickly became a cornerstone in publishing definitive rankings of companies and celebrities, including famous lists like 30 Under 30 and the World’s Most Powerful 100 Women, over its 102-year history.

Despite its American origins and operations, Forbes has not been U.S.-owned for years. In 2014, Integrated Whale Media Investments, based in Hong Kong, acquired it for about $400 million, a change largely unnoticed by its readership.
